Monument to the Weaver
In front of the cathedral stands the Monument built by Alessandro Rossi in 1879 dedicated to his workers to show them the figure of a perfect Weaver (not the real one, fatigued from the factory, but the one pride of his work.
The idea of "perfect worker" was inscribed in large letters at the base of the pedestal: "We demand renewing the art of fathers - equals in front of the frame as in front of God - future belong to the workers - capital guarantees work yesterday, today and tomorrow - ready to work for family, ready to fight for Italy and for the King - the work frees and elevates us - achievements of labor are precious as gold - from the frame we get money, from the money we get property".
Currently the "Omo" (The Man) is for Schio the symbol of that industrial activity that makes great the city and was the beginning of the "golden age" of Schio.
Unfortunately on 2003 was accidentally shot down by a crane that was carrying out maintenance work in the area. After It was reconstructed and completely renovated in 2004 with great joy of Schio.
Curiosity
This Monument is not only the symbol of the city, but even a place where to meet people.
"Dove xe catemo?" "Come dove xe catemo? davanti l' omo" (Where do we meet? How do we mmet? In front of the "Omo")
